Last week it occurred to me that we are already half way through 2019? Am I the only one who feels like we were singing a Prosecco fuelled Auld Lang Syne last week? Cliche as it sounds, life is whizzing by.
Speaking of whizzing by, it’s been just over one month since the family cycled the country and in all honesty it’s taken me that to find my feet again. Never for a minute did I anticipate the boys completing the challenge and missing it. I mean, 14 lads in one confined space with 1 toilet, what was there to miss?
This weekend was my dance show which is always my annual highlight and it’s actually inspired me to pursue a little project I’ve had in mind for a few years now all around dance, community and raising awareness for Huntington’s disease. I’ve had it on hold as I set myself a goal this year to slow down but I feel six months on, the time has come to start pulling some ideas together. It promises to bring vibrancy and fun and something everyone can enjoy so I will keep you posted (this is assuming I can pull it off of course!)
Fred turns two in just under a month. Not sure what he’s playing at as he was basically born a few months back but here we are! Little toad has finally mastered sleeping after some professional sleep support which means I am starting to resemble something a little easier on the eye than Jabba The Hutt. He’s actually become a much happier little lad for it too so parenting is feeling quite a bit easier than in previous months. I mean don’t be fooled, he could still win an award for best male dramatic performance on a daily basis, but aside from that he’s a delight!
Kev’s daughter Evie is nine in August which basically feels like we have a grown up in the house now. I always worried whether the two kids would bond enough being so far apart in age but she is literally amazing with him, constantly teaching him new things and praising him when he does things right, and he (although very much the boss) idolises her….as the picture below suggests! #badboyforlife
We are off to Ibiza now for a few days to celebrate Kev turning 40, which has been the equivalent of Peter Pan leaving Neverland! He refuses to acknowledge it, a child at heart… but hey, we are certainly going to enjoy the excuse to get away and enjoy some sunshine to celebrate. We’ve hired a boat to Formentera which was your most recommended thing to do, and have also hired a car to explore the island so we can make the most of all your recommendations. One things for sure, you will not find me living it large anywhere past 11pm so we’ll be sticking to the quiet side!
Perhaps not the wildest of updates, however a lovely few months ahead with the holiday and birthdays along with new and exciting ventures to explore. We are hopeful to take the kids down to Cornwall in August for what is likely to be the last holiday we can take Mum on. It’s a bit last minute so we are potentially looking at a motorhome rather than hotel as I think we’d be lucky to get one now! With all that going on there’s a lot to be grateful for so I’m cashing my 2019 goal of slowing down in as a win and making the most of what the rest of this year has to come.
