It’s approaching 10 months since I started working in partnership with Very and I have to be honest when I say it still surprises me I am part of it.
As a busy mum running various businesses & managing our rather complex family life I rarely have the time I used to for fashion. Long gone are the days of splurging all my cash on clothes and these days I find myself looking for comfort over anything else.
That said, clothes are a big part of how I tend to express myself and I do love it when I have the time to shop and look for new bits and bobs. Personally, clothes can transform my mood and give me a bit more confidence so I’ve really enjoyed being able to weave a little fashion into my busy lifestyle.
This month I picked a few summery bits for myself, with the odd item being ones that will carry me through to around September and then grabbed the kids a little summer pick each for special occasions over the holidays.
Freddie turned two this month and is currently safari mad so he had a cake with safari toppers which I managed to completely muck up, but hey, it tasted banging! This little t-shirt covered in giraffes is right up his street. I’m not always a fan of shorts in the summer, but jeans are SO hot, so I was on the hunt for an alternative and found these linen trousers which are literally £11 and the best thing I’ve ever owned! I picked up a pair of Birkenstock’s too, confirming comfort is certainly my top priory these days as have lived them since.
The kids are now home more over the summer, with Evie off school for the next six weeks and Freddie’s childcare reduced so we are hoping to make the most of the extra time together. I picked up both the kids a smart outfit each for BBQ’s at friends and pub teas as we love doing both in the summer. Evie is at that age where she wants crop tops so this I felt was happy medium. The tassles act to give a little added length whilst giving her the feeling of being on trend and the shorts are light and comfy. As for Fred’s shirt, well I’m just a sucker for him in a smart shirt and the colours on this were so summery and gorgeous I couldn’t resist.
I selected a few pretty floral pieces for me. It’s the one trend I’ve always loved. Boho, hippy, ditsy vibes! Sleeves are always the one, and if it’s got embroidery, well I’m half way there.
Lastly, I decided to finally buy a proper weekender bag. I’m on of those who uses a sports bag from about 1985 and longs to have a nice bag to take away! With Fred and I spending a night a week away at mum’s house it felt like the right time. It fits in everything we both need for up to two days and doesn’t make me look like Rocky Balboa so that’s a real added bonus.
I hope you enjoyed this months picks. As always I’ve stuck to pieces within my usual budget and included a few super cheeky bargains too. Have a gorgeous weekend. K x
